Statement Regarding the Mary Lou Carolan – Paul Ruggiero Election Appeal
What this entire episode exposed was something much larger than a single ballot or court decision.

The appellate process has now played out, and while I respect the role of the courts and the importance of following the legal process wherever it leads, respecting the process does not require pretending every outcome feels just — nor does it erase the troubling actions, political maneuvering, and unnecessary turmoil residents witnessed from portions of Town Hall over the past several months.
What this entire episode exposed was something much larger than a single ballot or court decision. It exposed a growing frustration from residents who feel unheard, shut out, and exhausted by a culture that too often prioritizes protecting the status quo over restoring public trust.
But there is a silver lining in all of this.
People are paying attention now. Residents are engaged. Conversations that were once happening quietly are now happening out in the open. And for every person frustrated by what they’ve seen unfold, there remains a powerful and peaceful outlet to channel that energy into meaningful change.
In November, the people will once again have the opportunity to shape the future direction of Town Hall.
That is how democracy works. And ultimately, that is where real accountability belongs.
